Important Legislative News

All contested regulations from the 2009-10 public hearings will go into effect this fall. Three bills were introduced in the Legislature to set aside the WRC's regulations proposals to expand muzzleloader deer season forward another week (two weeks total) into the archery season, allow the use of crossbows during the bow and arrow seasons and to allow all archery gear to be used for Sunday hunting, except on game lands and for taking migratory game birds.

These regulations will make it into the 2010-2011 Regulations Digest and will make it to the online version at www.ncwildlife.org. You can read them now on the website.

This news was conveyed to me today by a Commissioner. Since the legislature convened without taking action, all of the contested rules are no longer "contested."
